IIIT Agartala


The Indian Institute of Information Technology, Agartala is one of the new IIITs proposed by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India under PPP(Public-Private Partnership) mode in August 2018, under the mentorship of NIT Agartala in Tripura. IIIT Agartala has started its first batch in Computer Science and Engineering Department in the academic year 2018-19


The students of IIIT Agartala are learning a lot of skills from the dignitory faculty and seniors of IIIT Agartala and NIT Agartala. All students actively participate in AAYAM(technical fest), Moksha(cultural fest), E-Cell, ANARC(robotics club), Sanganan Prayog(space club), Aaveg(dramatics club), ANIMA(aerospace club), and different technical,cultural and sports activities of NIT Agartala.

Computer Science

At present only B.tech Cousers are offered in this department, but the Institute is planning to start the same in M.tech and Ph.D too

IIIT Agartala is now a Institute of National Importance

The union cabinet gave its nod to grant the status of Institution of National Importance(INI) to IIIT Agartala. The cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi approved the IIITs Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2020. "The bill will declare the remaining 5 IIITs-PPP along with the existing 15 IIITs in PPP mode as 'Institutions of National Importance' with powers to award degrees. This will entitle these institutions to use the nomenclature of Bachelor of Technology (BTech) or Master of Technology (MTech) or PhD degree as issued by a university or Institutions of National Importance".

Director of IIIT Agartala meets Chief Minister of Tripura

Prof. Peri Sareswara Avadhani, Director of IIIT Agartala, made a courtesy call to the honourable Chief Minister of Tripura, Mr. Biplab Kumar Deb at his government residence and discussed series of issues related to building IIIT College in the state and other related issues. The director have come from Vishakhapattanam to Agartala and met the Chief Minister, where the Chief Minister discussed the upcoming issues of the institute.

EBSB club of IIIT Agartala conducted interactive activities

Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat(EBSB) club of IIIT Agartala along with EBSB club of NIT Agartala arranged a series of activities for the students of the college. The activities include oath taking ceremony for cleanliness, plantation in college premises, visit to nearby village, and a series of co-cirricular activities ended by a closing ceremony along with prize distribution. Club has also planned college exchange plan with IIIT Bhagalpur, which got cancelled due to Covid-19 pandemic.
